This past weekend in Las Vegas the 89th Miss America was crowned, and Kickapoo senior Lauren McCreight was there to experience the magic. After winning the title of Miss Missouri Outstanding Teen this past June, she was able to attend the Miss America pageant in support of Miss Missouri, Tara Osseck. Her trip included four days of events, ending with the nationally televised finals on Saturday night.
One of the major highlights of her trip was performing a solo in the Miss Outstanding Teen’s performance for the pageant Thursday night. “They chose me out of all of the teen contestants, it was awesome getting to sing to all of the girls competing in the Miss America Pageant,” she said.
At the conclusion of the pageant, Caressa Cameron from Virginia walked away with the crown “Miss Virginia did really well presenting herself, she was very worthy of the crown. I was disappointed though that Tara [Miss Missouri] did not make it to finals. I thought she was deserving but it’s all about impressing the judges,” Lauren said.
Overall McCreight’s time at the pageant is something that will be a memorable experience. “The atmosphere of the pageant was incredibly exhilarating. The emotions were there, making it very exciting and enjoyable,” she said.
