Now that spring break is coming up in seven weeks now would be the time to get them to ensure that it is processed in time.  ”Usually it takes about four to six weeks for your passport application to be processed and mailed to your house,” Nixa post office worker, Kim Roman said.
” Most people think that the application process is painful and takes awhile, when in reality it only takes about 15 minutes per person if you come prepared with all the necessary paperwork,” Roman also said. When you go to apply there is also a fee along with the paper work, total the fee comes to 100 dollars with 75 going to the U.S. Department of State and the other 25 dollars goes to the post office.

There are three post offices in or around the springfield area. Nixa Post Office on 404 W South Street and they can be contacted at (417) 725-5112, Republic Post Office on 660 E Harrison Street and they can be contacted at (417) 732-4733, and finally Springfield Post Office on 500 w Chestnut Expressway. There is on quality that makes Nixa and Republic stand out though. They have walk in passport applicant policy when at the Springfield post office you have to make an appointment. At the Nixa post office on Mon-Fri they will take passport applications from 9:30-4:00 p.m.

To apply for a passport all that is need is a filled out but not signed DS-11 form that can be printed out from www.travel.state.gov, your birth certificate, both parents present (if minor), your passport pictures which stores such as Walgreens and Walmart can do for a small fee, and finally you need a drivers license or some other form of identification.
