Okay, this is just how life is.
People should just get over racial slurs and not say them. People should be able to speak their minds without filters, so I mostly agree with Anon. But people should be mindful of what they say. No one should go out of their way to say something that the other person would find offensive. To think that we can say anything and get away with it and the people who are offended should just get over is is ignorant and arrogant. It’s people like that the, the ones that just say things and tell everyone else to piss off I will do whatever the heck I want, that make the world hard to live and lead to horrible events like the Holocaust.
The thing is you just have to make sure you are being appropriate. If you feel the need to say a racial slur in public fine, but don’t take as far to where you are shooting people up because of race, religion, or however else you can classify people. The whole reason for this article was that these people were in a professional setting and should be held to a higher standard and really shouldn’t say racial slurs.

Hi.
I’m a human being. Surprised? Sometimes, so am I. Being human, I’m not perfect, so yes, to answer your question, I get annoyed with people despite following in the footsteps of a man who never did. The Bible is not, in fact, indifferent on this, but unfortunately, I make mistakes. I know, it sucks.
In closing, I would like to genuinely thank you for your approval of the “quasi-decent rule of thumb”. It means a lot, as I have read many of your comments on this site and generally agree with you and admire your blunt eloquence.

I am unaware of this ability to step outside myself, while I’m analyzing the rest of the world with myself — or is it my “non-self” self that is analyzing the rest of the world – and, to lack emotion while maintaining it. Oh, and congratulations on your Christian beliefs of love, and being annoyed by people — is that last part Satan haunting your weak and fragile spirit, or is that an area The Bible is indifferent about? But, aside from being a condescending jerk, I will take the extra effort and state: that aside from all of what I’ve said previously, this article does contain a quasi-decent rule of thumb — along with a method that would need some refining — that people can use to attempt to understand a supposed opposing position from their own.

Yuck.
Political correctness should really be one of those “bad words” parents tell their kids never to use.
I have this terrifying image in my head of a future where American’s have lost the ability to communicate effectively because they are constantly dancing around other people’s feelings. If you don’t have the backbone to let offensive comments roll off, maybe you shouldn’t be listening in the first place.
We have to speak our minds because no one else can do it for us.

But, to “answer” your question, the writer just states that, “it is imperative that everyone tries their best everyday to avoid hurting the feelings of others,” without justifying why it is imperative, and why should I follow it if they would somehow justify it – which will beg your question again.

To care or not to care about offending others, is just a personal preference. On a personal note, I do admire your stance on not really caring about offending others. And, I don’t believe that most claims I deem bigoted are true; rather, I find them to be hilarious in their absurd claims, for example, like in the book, “The Pink Swastika,” when the author tries to distort history by claiming that homosexuals were the bad guys, and major players behind the Third Reich, just brought me to tears. And, no, I don’t think being, or not being, a member of that particular “victim” group should hold that much weight when discussing preferences.

Why?

First off, abbreviations for words make the otherwise strong words negligible and easy to pass over.

Being politically correct never took anyone anywhere. If I can’t say what I want to in fear that other people would get offended, why even talk at all? Why should I care about how other people feel about the language I use or my views on issues?

My point is, why should I be worried about offending people? I shouldn’t have to care. If people don’t like what I’m saying, and if people don’t want to be offended, they can walk away, put down the magazine, turn off the t.v., or shut down the computer. I am not the one keeping them there to have them be offended by what I’m saying. But, God knows, this is America and we’re too afraid to say what we really mean anymore.

Bryce understood your point and that is why he made a reference to Walden. His objective in writing this article was to put facebook in a new light to many people at Kickapoo who see it as completely innocent. While I may not deactivate my account, I will never look at facebook the same way again.

Mr. Snider it takes a man to admit he is wrong. After my comments this story changed a little — especially in the area I critiqued. Do you think I just made up that quote? What I posted is from your website and I am glad you changed it. Yes saying Lady Falcons a lot of times in a sports article is ok but when it is used 3 times in one sentence that should be a signal of a run on. I am also glad you edited “had each had,” and added the word “defensive.” I will continue to read the articles posted each and everyday and try to correct the mistakes I see because that is my job as a Kickapoo student who takes pride in everything produced by PN media. I am not going to ask you to own up to your mistakes cause when it comes to a Y chromosome some have it and some don’t.
