Lady Chiefs Knock Out Rival in District Championship
Last Friday night marked a significant win for the Kickapoo Lady Chiefs. The Lady Chiefs defeated rival Glendale in a 49-27 victory. "It's just great to continue that tradition of winning, but also a special win for Coach Phillips and the girls. It was very emotional for them but also a great motivator. Chief’s Drama department brings home big props from invitation only event
Neosho, Missouri - Kickapoo High School Drama students competed at an invitation only Drama Festival at Crowder College Thursday and Friday. The Kickapoo one-act play took 1st place out of 15 area schools and Adam Barksdale won the Best Actor award. Chief's readers theater took 4th place out of the area 15 schools and Ashley Bench won the Best Supporting Actor award. Check out everything Kickapoo High School's theater program has to offer here. The teams consisted of the following: One-Act: Adam Barksdale, Andrew Magnus, and Gerald Sherwood Readers: Stevie Bales, Ashley Bench, Abigail Benson, Jordan Butcher, Rebecca Claborn, Addy Riddle, Kassie Wright, and Molly Wright
Science Olympiad scores big in MSU competition
Springfield - The Kickapoo High School Science Olympiad team continued it's winning tradition Saturday afternoon on the Missouri State campus. Lead by coach John Moore they placed 4th overall in the Southwest Missouri Region (VII). They have also been invited to participate at the state level in March. Individual Awards from MSU Competition are as follows: 1st Place, Chemistry Lab – Logan Duncan and Morgan Kohls 1st Place, Environmental Chemistry - Logan Duncan and Morgan Kohls 3rd Place, Anatomy & Physiology – Mariah Gawlik and Janessa Pennington 5th Place, Dynamic Planet – Kassi Kingsland and McKenzie Lutz 5th Place, Fossils - McKenzie Lutz and Reagan Lutz
Wilson’s Creek students return due to early repairs
Springfield- Classes will be held as usual at Wilson's Creek 5-6 School Monday, Feb. 22, according to a release by Springfield Public Schools, since repairs to the heating system were completed ahead of schedule. Initially it was expected that repairs would take until Tuesday. The district says school will begin as usual at 8:45 a.m. and all students will be released at the regular time of 3:30 p.m. All before-school and after-school programs and tutoring will resume as scheduled.
